Lovely tune, nice lyrics and great delivery (as always, but no harm in praising again). I'm so use to your high production values, I wonder what help did your uni friend provide, as I presume the backing vocal is you too ?
Oooo! What a lovely start to the day. Great words. I really liked "When I met you I was innocently dreaming Of a future far beyond my current years". Can hardly believe that that is your room at university. Electric light and the paint isn't peeling off the wall. Luxury. And you've probably got heating too.
Hi Holly , this is brilliant ! There is a richnness and depth here which is entirely engaging . It's very mature with confidence winning over uncertainty ; it's both positive and plaintive which I find immensely moving . It's very much a new you and but just as lovely as the younger version has always been .Simply beautiful :D
Outstanding! How wonderful to wake up this morning and find this. It is a beautiful song and it brought tears to my eyes as so many others have, lol. It is a always great joy to see you perform. Thanks for posting it for us. :)
Has anyone else got a crazy rolling train going around in their heads like one of those old model railways ? Round and round and round and round ............
Haha! Me three! I woke up with it in my head this morning and in my half sleep I was thinking 'What IS that song ~ why can't I get it out of my head' ~ lol.
Another thing that drives me is how it seems (to me) to be a look into Holly's thoughts. Maybe I am 'off-track' but, it just seems to fit so well with the train ride on the blog post and... considerations of the time's events. Oh my, oh my, lol.
Ah , so it's not only me then -- phew ! And would I be wrong in thinking that if Holly took this song to Nashville she would soon become a Country and Western star at The Grand Olde Opri ?
Larry ~ you know Holly so well! ;) Sometimes it is pure Holly and others it is a little of Holly plus artistic license. Such is 'the crazy rolling train of life' ;-)
What Holly has done is to have taken the experience of the train journey and transpose it into an emotional one in which the main character travels not through a physical landscape but one of feeling in which certainties are obscured by steamed up windows . Even so , the experience is more exciting than scary ; although the emotional landscape seems unclear , the direction of travel feels positive . It's a song of understanding and renewal . The singer knows that , even though she is 'sealed ' in a carriage ( sometimes of her own making ) the train is taking her to the next stage of her journey . The train ride itself is not the journey , it is the vehicle which enables her to her new point of departure . The song writer , a Miss Holly Kirby , is clearly a very clever young woman and one who also sings like an angel . Recommend this record to all your friends ; they'll thank you for it ! Star Rating 10/10 .
What a kind thought . My original review actually included the sentence : ' Much of the sensitivity evident in Miss Kirby's work can , in part , be traced back to her mother who , so people say , is herself a quiet source of inspiration to her talented daughter . ' Unfortunately Miss Kirby wasn't available at the time to comment and therefore my editor decided that it would be inappropriate to include it in my review ;)
Wow! This morning, I was picking beans to cook and found myself humming this song. Funny thing is, it was a while before I even realized what it was that I was humming, lol. Subconscious. As I said on Holly's comment page, this has become one of my all time favorite songs.
The door closing thumps (like at time=24) caused me to get up and go look out all of the windows to see what it was at first, LOL. It was my sub-woofer, of course. I started to remove them with Audacity but decided to leave them in as it sets the tone for Holly singing and playing at school. I just love the atmosphere and, of course, the song.
I love the way it makes me feel and and am happy to be able to share her feelings in light of current events, unless my imagination is running away with me, lol. Amazing! An amazing song as well.
Larry , you are an old softy ! ---- and a song writer ; you love the song so much that you've subconsciously scripted you comments to fit the rhythm of it ! You can now hum along to your own words !

TV ist wieder online. Habe heute gerade an Dich gedacht, als ich mit einer jungen Kollegin aus Hessen gesprochen habe, die behauptete, das die Angehörigen dieses Stammes kein Blatt vor den Mund nehmen.

Every morning, Trevor, half asleep I'm riding this train.
Count me in too. My new (likely temp.) fav, lol.

Trevor if that train is in your head it's probably just your Train of Though so nothing to worry about.

@Trev Holly is already a star.

LOL Mr A Smartass ~ I am tempted to put this excellent review on to Holly's comments page. :)

PS Forgive my ignorance but what is Holly's Comment Page ?

Man, I could not even carry a tune in a bucket, lol! (That is an old Appalachian saying)
But you're only young , Larry , plenty of time to grow and develop as an artist --- you just need a bit of encouragement ;)
That and about 60 years off, lol.
I think I've been waiting for this thing quite a long time ...
